Our Eco-Friendly Lawnmowers

Posted on: September 9th, 2024 by masteruser

🌿🐑 They’re back! After a short summer holiday, our beloved lawn-mowing sheep, ‘The Groundskeeper,’ and her trusty Deputies, Shaun and Flymo, along with their friendly flock of 25, have returned to the green fields of our site in Launton to keep the grass and weeds at bay. By avoiding traditional fuel-based mowers, we’ve embraced a sustainable path, having these 25 adorable sheep to keep things trim and tidy.

💚 At Greencore, it’s not just about construction, it’s about harmony with nature. We’re committed to sustainable solutions in every step of our journey toward a greener future. 🌿🐑

Let’s give a warm welcome back to our baa-rrilliant grounds team!

Michael Gove visits Greencore’s multi-award winning Springfield Meadows.

Posted on: March 9th, 2023 by masteruser

Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities visited our multi-award winning development Springfield Meadows, in Southmoor, Oxfordshire last week. He was joined by the local MP, David Johnston OBE. The development of 25 climate positive homes, is built to be better than net-zero in terms of embodied carbon and aims to be net-zero energy in use.

Michael Gove said “We want beautiful, well designed, and greener neighbourhoods and the community I’ve seen in Springfield Meadows is something we wish to replicate right across the country. By modernising the planning system, our reforms will create more places people are proud to call home.”

Jon Di-Stefano, Greencore’s CEO, commented, “We were delighted to welcome both Michael Gove and David Johnston to our Springfield Meadows development. It’s exceptionally pleasing to have the government taking such a keen interest in our climate positive homes. The structure of a typical Greencore home is better than net zero in terms of embodied carbon, they are also highly energy efficient and can generate more energy than they use.”

Greencore wins ‘Home Of The Year’ Award.

Thank you to The Telegraph, and to Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine for awarding Greencore with ‘Best Custom Build Site 2022’ in their ‘Home Of The Year’ Award.
January’s edition of Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine (available now) has a fantastic 8 page spread of Springfield Meadows as well as other great projects that won in the different categories. We are very proud to have won this national award which after being shortlisted by judges, was chosen by the readers!

“What really struck me about this project when I visited the site was the company’s genuine commitment and enthusiasm to building highly sustainable homes, some of which are carbon negative, which is exciting and trailblazing in equal measure,” says judge Michelle Guy. “Not only should homeowners take note of this remarkable site, but housing developers too — this project illustrates how building sustainably can be done. It sets the blueprint for building eco homes now, and in the future.”

Springfield Meadows is a Climate Positive development of 16 private homes and 9 affordable. All 25 are built to the same Passivhaus thermal performance standards. We think Springfield Meadows is the most sustainable development in the country because we’ve combined a few things that haven’t been done together before.
– Better than zero embodied carbon
– Net-zero energy in use
– One Planet Living® Global Leadership by Bioregional
– Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) partnership
– Elimination of gas utilities to create an all-electric development and eliminate fossil fuels.
– An electric car club with cars from GRIDSERVE and chargers from myenergi
– To achieve better than zero embodied carbon, we build houses that lock-up more carbon than they emit and generate more energy than they use.
We call this Climate Positive. In order to lock up more carbon than we emit, we build with bio-based materials instead of bricks & block. We used cross laminated timber supplied by Stora Enso. We also aim to minimise the use of cement, steel & other high energy materials.

We still think it’s the most sustainable development in the country and we are so proud to have been shortlisted for this National Award.

Many thanks for voting,

The Greencore Team
